Some of you might not know this, but before I began my career as a chef, I was lucky enough to work with my favorite South African designer, Carrol Boyes.


In 2005 I began wholesaling the line to stores across the USA. I was lucky enough to work with many Hollywood celebrities, clamoring to own some of Carrol’s amazing functional art. And in 2007 I opened a pop up store in Los Angeles and the American market went crazy for the brand.

So you can only imagine how happy I am to be partnering up again with this amazing woman. For those unfamiliar with her work, Carrol Boyes is a top South African artist and designer who uses her talent and flair to create distinctive and unique items.


From humble beginnings with a few helpers in Carrol’s seaside home, on Cape Town’s Atlantic coast, the company has grown based on overwhelming worldwide demand.

By refusing to mass produce outside of Africa, Carrol has created opportunities in post-apartheid South Africa. Carrol’s reconstruction and development efforts provide work for hundreds of previously disadvantaged individuals, now employed and empowered in their factory located in the Limpopo Province.



Carrol’s uniquely quirky designs are inspired by all things African. Carrol’s intention was to bring aesthetically pleasing, everyday art pieces into the home to add a little magic…With her inspiration firmly rooted in Southern Africa, everything she designs and creates is by instinct. Her passion for Africa infuses her work.

Carrol Boyes is a woman-owned business and a multi-cultural organization that supports gender empowerment, both within and outside of its infrastructure.

Carrol has adopted the role of mentor and is dedicated to encouraging and nurturing local talent. She has become a South African icon, earning a national award for the Top Woman Owned Company of the Year.

Several social, non-profit projects & charities have been set up by Carrol. They benefit the less privileged and bear testimony to the culture and ethos of the company. These charities include
