hello,

I remember my mom telling me that when I was a baby she would be afraid of taking me to one of her clients. She maintained every time she took me there I would get sick. She believed this woman was given me an ayin ha’ra (Hebrew for evil eye) and she tied red string around my wrist and clothes.

She would have my grandmother run around me throwing salt over my head while she chanted something in Yiddish and spat 3 times (tu tu tu) before throwing it into a fire. My mom was a nut case with superstitions. Dogs howling, ladders, birds in the house, pulling you ears when you sneezed. She was a meshuggena and I dismissed most of her craziness.

But I do believe in the evil eye. And I can feel it in my gut when I’m on the receiving end. Jealously and greed are evil green monsters. And sins humans are guilty of committing, especially in today’s times where people are measuring their success with material possessions and worldly achievements rather than internal growth.

More is better is the mantra on everyone’s lips. Perhaps that’s the reason the 10 commandments explicitly states “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house”. G-d felt the need to make this one of the 10 laws He handed down to us.

I don’t understand people who act this way. I have always wished the best for people but I am acutely aware when others don’t wish me well. It’s like a sixth sense. Alarm bells go off in my head and I get a nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach. I used to be a people pleaser so in the past I tried to play small or dim my light to make them feel more comfortable. But G-d wants us to shine our light and share it with others.

So as I got older I chose to step away from their energy and I do my best to let this decision go unnoticed. Most of the time the people don’t even know that I have left the building. I do this to protect my energy, but I don’t wish harm to them. Quite the contrary, I hold kindness, compassion and love in my heart for them. I just prefer to be in light, generous, fulfilling and kind relationships.

So my advice to you is to listen to your own inner voice. That compass pointing to your true North. The feeling that tells you to move toward the light. Because wishing well for others and holding them in our prayers and hearts is one of the biggest blessings we can bestow on the people around us. The Universe is built on G-d’s kindness and he loves all of us equally.

So be that person who celebrate others successes and let love guide your thoughts and deeds and the Universe will reward you for your positive vibes. There is enough abundance for everyone to achieve their hearts desires so make a conscious decision to cheer others onto victory and trust that everything you desire is already out there waiting for you.

I am here to tell you that I am your biggest fan and you are magnificent darling xxx Chef MM
